ANBIP January Meeting Today
Plus: a list of grants, a job opportunity, and a member getting featured in NASW
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the first meeting of ANBIP, Authors of Nonfiction Books in Progress, for 2024! If you’re new here, check your intro email or the “about” page.
Today’s meeting is here:

As a reminder, I typically send out one meeting invitation per month, then one reminder about that meeting. They’re free, one-hour meetings on Google Meet.
Today, let’s do it a little differently: instead of discussing our goals for the next meeting/month, let’s talk about our goals for the year! It’s a New Year, right? Where do you see yourself a year from now?
I also usually include some notes, updates, and resources, such as below.
A list of grants for members
I’ve started this list of grants that might appeal to us authors of researched, general-audience nonfiction books. Feel free to add any you know.
Sloan Foundation is Hiring - $75-80k, New York City
This is the grant we talk about the most. If you work there, you can help them manage their grants–and you’ll probably get to see lots of cool science books and programs looking for funding.
Connection made!
A couple of members made a great connection last meeting! Lynne Lamberg, who edits Advance Copy, a series of short backstories on books by members of the National Association of Science Writers, met Erica Geis, who published Water Always Wins: Thriving in an Age of Draught and Deluge. Thanks to this meeting, Lynne published Erica’s book’s backstory on Advance Copy! Read it here.
Hope to see you today!
